Reverb Journal Privacy Policy

Effective November 2, 2026

Reverb Journal (“the app”) is a voice journal for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. It is published by Reverb Technology LLC, a Texas company (“Reverb”, “we”). This policy explains what information the app has, what information we have, and what we do not. For any privacy or support question, write to developer@reverbt.com.

1. In short

2. Your content stays with you

What you create in the app is your voice notes (the original audio), their transcriptions, the text you type and the narrations of your day. All of it is stored on your device and encrypted there, using the cryptography built into Apple’s operating system. To record, the app asks for microphone access; the audio is recorded to a file inside your device.

Reverb has no access to that content: there is no server of ours that receives or stores it, and we cannot read it, listen to it or recover it.

You can also attach photos and videos. They are copied, sealed, into the journal inside your device and do not leave it. If you turn on “Suggest photos from the day” (it is off by default), the app asks for read permission on your photo library to suggest the photos of the day you are viewing, and it only copies the ones you choose to add.

The encryption keys are kept in your device’s Apple keychain. If you have iCloud Keychain turned on, Apple may sync them to your other devices. Apple manages that under its own rules, not Reverb. Separately, the files the app stores on your device, already encrypted, may be included in the backups you make of your device, for example with iCloud or with a computer; those backups are also managed by Apple and not by Reverb.

3. Transcription, narration and “The good of today” on your device

Transcription uses Apple’s speech recognition, which runs on your device. The narration (the draft of your day told in the first person) and “The good of today” (“Lo bueno de hoy” in Spanish; a short recap of the good moments of your day, which you can listen to in your device’s voice) are generated by one of Apple’s system language models, also on your device, from what you said and only for you. If you turn on the daily notice for “The good of today”, it is a local notification from your device, and it never shows the content of your notes. For these features your audio and text do not leave your device, and we do not use them to train artificial intelligence models. If the language you speak needs a model that is not yet on your device, Apple’s system downloads it; Apple does that, and it does not send your content anywhere.

4. What does leave your device

Only two kinds of information reach our server. Neither contains your content and neither includes your name or email, because we do not have them. We use them only to fix faults and to confirm your purchases; we do not use them for advertising or to build profiles.

5. What we do not do

6. Providers

To run the app and this website we rely on these providers:

The data that reaches our server may be processed in the United States and in other countries where these providers operate. When data moves between countries, we rely on the transfer mechanisms that applicable law recognizes.

7. How long it is kept

8. Your recovery key

The app gives you a personal recovery key so you can open your journal if you lose all of your devices. It is yours alone: Reverb does not have it and cannot recover it, reset it or open your journal for you. If you lose the key and also lose access to your devices and to the keys Apple stores, your content may be unrecoverable. Keep it somewhere safe, preferably outside the Apple ecosystem, for example in a password manager, in a file or on paper. We will never ask you for it.

9. Your rights

Almost everything the app stores is on your device and under your control: you can view it, listen to it, export it and delete it from the app. Reverb has no copy of your content, so we cannot hand it over, correct it or delete it for you.

For the few technical data that reach our server (error reports and purchase confirmations, linked only to a random identifier), you can ask us for access, rectification, deletion, restriction or objection by writing to developer@reverbt.com. Because we do not know your name or email, we may not be able to link that data to you; if so, we will explain what we can do. To protect your security, we may ask for information that confirms your request. We will respond within the time limits set by applicable law.

10. Children

Reverb Journal is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from minors. Because the app has no accounts and your content does not leave your device, we have no way of knowing the age of the person using it. If you believe a minor sent us information, write to developer@reverbt.com and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will post the new version on this page with its effective date. If a future version of the app adds features that change what data is collected or where it is stored, for example syncing your notes with iCloud, we will update this policy before that feature becomes available.

12. Language that prevails

This policy exists in Spanish and in English. If there is any difference between the two versions, the Spanish version prevails.
